Your Swim
It all starts with an introduction. After an inquiry a participant is sent a response outlining cost and terms, what is expected, what to bring and supply.
Swim slots
Swimming slots are provided around the moon phase. Weather is the most important factor in crossing the Cook Strait such is the changing conditions
NZOWSA
New Zealand Open Water Swim Association is the entity that ratify a participant’s swim. They are issued dates once slots have been firmed up with deposits, these dates are then farmed out to NZOWSA’s many observers.
Getting here
Picton is where the boats are based and is a direct flight from Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. Accommodation and car rentals should be booked well in advance as there is limited public transport here in Marlborough.
Waiting
Swimmers are always advised to come in advance of their window and plan to stay well after given the nature of the weather and conditions of Cook Strait. Both Picton and Waikawa have routes along their shores for swimmers to train in.
Signing the honour roll
